Metal Road

About This Game

The Wasteland Federation of Blood Sport has one rule: first across the line keeps the scrap. Strap into a rusted V8 interceptor or a bare-frame desert buggy and tear down a 3.5 km canyon road against three rival killers — the Butcher, the Viper and the Cutthroat — while a pack of raider warbikes closes in with shotguns.

Your hands are full. Arrows drive, the machine gun clears the road ahead, and oil slicks spin out whoever tails you. And over it all plays a metal soundtrack with a fretboard of its own: hit the Q/W/E notes on the beat, hold a flawless streak, and the engine fires a speed surge. Miss, and the lead guitar drops out of the mix.

Jump the chasm, dodge the mines, wreck the raiders for bonus scrap, and spend every bolt in the garage on a faster engine, thicker armor, a meaner gun and longer nitro.

Key features

  • Rhythm-Powered Speed: A three-lane fretboard rides on top of the race. Flawless streaks turn into speed surges, synced to a live metal track.
  • Combat Racing: Forward machine gun with heat and ammo, rear oil slicks, and a raider warbike pack that rams and shoots back.
  • Real Damage Model: Hoods, panels and bumpers tear off, the engine smokes, and a wreck respawns you at the last checkpoint.
  • Scrap Economy: Every race and every kill pays scrap. Upgrade engine, armor, weapon and nitro for each car through four levels.
  • Medals and Records: Gold, silver and bronze times, a ranked finish from S to D, and a cinematic flyby when you cross the line.
  • Zero-Install WebGL: Havok physics and full 3D in the browser — no downloads, no launchers.

Roadmap to Steam

What the developer builds next, step by step, on the way from this alpha to the Steam release.

  1. Metal Road, step 1: Racing and the scrap economy
    ✓ Done

Step 1 Racing and the scrap economy

Arcade physics on a full canyon track, three AI rivals and a raider warbike pack. Every race pays out scrap, and scrap buys engine, armor, weapon and nitro upgrades in the garage.

  2. Metal Road, step 2: Guitar Hero mechanic
    ✓ Done

    Step 2 Guitar Hero mechanic

A Q/W/E fretboard rides on top of the race, synced to a metal soundtrack. Hold a flawless streak and the car fires a speed surge; miss and the lead guitar drops out.

  3. Metal Road, step 3: Roguelike runs
    Planned

    Step 3 Roguelike runs

Races chain into runs across the wasteland. Random events, upgrade picks between stages, and one wreck too many ends the run.

  4. Metal Road, step 4: More cars and tracks
    Planned

Step 4 More cars and tracks

New vehicle models and the two locked tracks, Ash Wastes and Rust City, with their own props, hazards and soundtracks.

  5. Metal Road, step 5: Steam release
    Planned

    Step 5 Steam release

The full game packaged for Steam: achievements, leaderboards for track records, gamepad support and a desktop build.
